On 12/22/23 the dept was activated for a water rescue off Soundview Dr. units responded to our designated staging are at Hallock Landing Rd while support units did reconnaissance from bluffs on Soundview Dr were FR-80 observed a person on a Paraglider. Chief 30 established a command post and initiated dept operations for water Bourne emergencies. Marine Reacue Unit-28 responded and prepped Boat -26 for launching into LI Sound in event of an uncontrolled water landing. FP-13 responded with ATV Unit-23 to patrol the beach and bluff areas. E-7 arrived and assisted in areas not covered as needed.EMS coverage from both Dist Crews and dept members were on scene in the event of any injuries or cold exposure. Fire Police units were on scene to create a safe zone for the operating members. The Glider was able to land without incident or injuries. Mutual aid was supplied by Sound Beach FD marine rescue unit and R-4.
