On Tuesday 4/23 at 12:07 p.m. the dept received a call for a brush fire in the vicinity of Westchester Dr by the old drive in movie property. Chief 32 & 33 responded, and on arrival an area of brush was observed burning and the chief-32 immediately implemented dept procedures for brush fire operations. E-15 responded 1st due but with topography issues they were unable to gain access to the fire area. BT-6 & 19 responded and after encountering difficulties making way into the fire are finally were able to overcome the obstacles and begin extinguishing the fire. Chief 33 who was in charge of operations deemed more resources were required. Mutual aid was requested from the Sound Beach FD for an additional brush truck & engine. SBFD BT-5 assisted in fire operations and SBFD E-9 supplied water as needed. A-8 stood by and provided rehab for operating members and the scene was secured by dept fire police personal. No injuries were reported and the dept was placed back in service an hour later.
